I am doing some research on how to implement workflow in SharePoint Online and I have found two interesting examples:
You can add the workflow to the right Manfest publish the workflow ohm hostname but not for workflow Work and history are still tracked on the apppub. You can see the example here ...
If you need work and history on the hostweb, you can create a sandbox solution with workflow and publish wsp-apkage on the site.
If you are not a programmer then you are probably better than SharePoint Designer 2013. You can download it for free. Just do a quick search for the SharePoint Designer 2013 workflow. There are so many examples for this
