I have a master password on my mac, and I forgot it. I found the file path /etc/master.passwd
However I'm not sure that this is the correct file. I do not want to reset the master password, only understand what it is.
This is probably possible to try, especially if you miss something about the password but It will take time to keep the right equipment and do it, even the week. Nobody can say that before trying.
This is the best tool to try and you can get it in Linux distribution
Once you upload your / etc / passwd and your banner link to your master linux .passwd, you can use unshadow
to create a file from two (it's called crackable.password) and then you
john --rules - W: / path / to / my / wordlist crackable.passwd
In a file / path / to / my / wordlist that you have to keep too many words (different from Newline) on your password Remember Can. The --rules option makes some mangling and permutations for you (mostly on one word, uppercase / lowercase, adding some numbers, adding special characters, etc.) ... but you may need to customize them. This is the reason I understand that you need time to understand what you are doing.
